You'll often get the best results if you leave "Exact phrase" chosen. For example, if you search for "Alton Barnes white horse" using "Exact phrase", the search results will only show pages that contain those words together in that order. If you do that search and choose "Any word", the search results will contain every page on the site as every page contains the word "white" in the title "Wiltshire White Horses", but of course many of those pages have nothing on them about the Alton Barnes white horse itself.

If you're not getting the results you expect, try broadening your search. For example, if your search for "Broad Hinton white horse" doesn't produce any results (it won't, with "Exact phrase" chosen), try a search for just "Broad Hinton" (which will produce a result).

Alternatively, try different words with a similar meaning. For example, if you've searched for "timeline" and got no results, try "dates" or "chronology".

The search is not case sensitive, so you can enter any mixture of upper case and lower case letters and you'll get the same results.

If you get no results and you think you may not have spelled something right, check the "Sound-alike matching" box and search again.
